Welcome to my garden! And thank you for stopping by.I hope that you will find something to interest you.
I am a lifelong gardener. My first garden was a 2’ x 2’ square along the foundation of the house my family lived in when I was in elementary school.I grew green zinnias because I was fascinated by the concept of green flowers.I’m still fascinated by green flowers and I still grow green zinnias.
I’m a Master Gardener now. I highly recommend the Master Gardener course to anyone with an interest in gardening. The course is available in every state. Just call or email your local agricultural extension office for information on when and where the classes are being held near you.
I was a volunteer for 20 years at Rutgers Gardens, the arboretum and botanic garden of Rutgers University, the state university of New Jersey where I managed the herb garden. I also grew out and sold herbs for their big plant sale in May. Every year I wrote a catalog describing all of the herbs that we were selling. I have a website devoted to herbs called Advice From the Herb Lady.
I suppose you’re wondering why we need yet another gardening website.
I don’t know about you, but I get really frustrated when I need just one piece of information about a plant and have to read an entire online article just to find out spacing or how to harvest. And sometimes, after reading the entire article, it turns out that it has none of the information that I need.
The solution? “How2GrowIt!” My plant articles are formatted in clearly labeled sections so that you can find just the information that you are looking for without having to waste your time reading information that you don’t need.
Want to know how to harvest? Skip to the How to Harvest section. Want to know the correct spacing? Skip to the How to Grow section. How about how to divide your plant? Skip to the How to Divide section.
I hope you enjoy your stroll through my garden. If you have any questions that aren’t addressed here, please contact me. I will be happy to answer you.
